Reference Questions

Reference staff at the Media Center is available to answer your questions about how to search for material and how to use the Media Center. Feel free to come to the Reference Desk on the second floor for assistance.

Library Use and Search Systems

Ask about how to search for material and use electronic resources, and how to use the facilities within the library.

Searching Collections

Ask the Reference staff for assistance if the material you are looking for is not kept at the Media Center. Staff can search domestic and overseas collections to locate the material, and tell you where to find it.

Using Other Libraries

In some cases, a Letter of Introduction is needed to use other libraries. In particular, access to theses is often limited. Please discuss your needs with staff at the Reference Desk.

Libraries at Other Campuses

Other University Libraries, Special Libraries

  • Waseda University Libraries (Central Library, Toyama Library, Science and Engineering Library, Tokorozawa Library)
  • Keio University undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty members and staff can use the library facilities (library admission / photocopying) upon presentation of a Student ID Card, or Keio University ID Card which is issued by HR on request bases (that is NOT Campus Card).
  • Lending is available for full-time faculty members (excluding Project Professors) and tenured staff.
  • Please ask at the Reference Desk for more details.
  • University Libraries (other than Waseda University)
  • A Letter of Introduction is generally required. Please ask at the Reference Desk.
  • National Diet Library
  • Persons 18 years and older are allowed admission. A Letter of Introduction is not required.

Seminars on Demand

The Media Center holds seminars for research lab groups and classes, explaining how to use the library and how to search the databases such as KOSMOS as required. The seminars can be catered to suit the needs of each group. It is also possible for library staff to visit classrooms and research labs to conduct these seminars.
